What is the Emergency Plan

Carlby Village Emergency Plan update: Be Prepared
 
This plan’s equipment facilitates our community’s ability to respond to emergencies in the initial hours until professional help arrives or the situation resolves.
 

When required due to:

 

Power Outage Disruptions and Other Potential Emergencies i.e.

 
While major national incidents involving transportation (road, rail, air) require professional response, our plan can provide short-term support.
 
Road closures, Snow blockage and flooding, Prolonged sub-zero weather
 
Local support with situations like heatwaves by encouraging neighbourly
assistance for at-risk individuals.
 
 

The Plan’s contents and Resources:

Village Hall: serves as a central location for supplies and coordination.
 
Support in the first instants, mothers with new born and young requiring regular heat for feed bottles and vulnerable persons requiring warmth and reassurance.
 
Equipment is mobile and can be wheeled to the majority of the properties within the village or taken by vehicle to reach more isolated parishioner dwellings.
 

Equipment:

o Generator (fuel not included)
o Gas heater and safety guard
o Camping stove and fuel cans
o Tripod Lighting equipment
o Extension cords
o Torches, batteries
o Communication equipment
 
o First-aid kit
o Hot water bottles
o Space blankets, bedding
o Thermos flasks
o Matches, lighters
o Public address system
 

Supplies:

o Food and drink provisions of tea, coffee, milk, sugar, biscuits etc. from community donations encouraged in the first instance.
o Limited meal preparation possible using the camping stove.
 

Fuel:

Generator fuel can be collected from residents with lawnmowers if petrol stations are
inaccessible.
 

 

Activating the Plan:

Contact any parish councillor or the clerk to access the plan's equipment and receive further coordinate village support.
To encourage residents with relevant skills (communication, emergency response) to volunteer their expertise if appropriate issue arises.
Additional Information:
The Parish Council initiated this equipment in 2010 and serves as its custodian.
